French AN Xlll  Percussion Pistol

This pistol was converted to percussion in 1834
Probably made in Tulle (the brass butt and the ramrod bear the Tulle “T” within a circle and are both dated 1734) it appears to have been converted to percussion 100 years later in 1834, a date stamped on the barrel. It carries several European proof marks to barrel, lock and furniture as well as “GB” within a circle stamped to the top of the barrel.

Ours is in remarkable condition and would have experienced an historic career through the ages, including the Napoleonic and Spanish wars. It has a crisp mechanical action and very well preserved French walnut stock. It is a very worthy example of the quite short flintlock to percussion transitional era.
